Landlords - Services Provided


The IPOA offers a one stop shop for advice and assistance.

It provides guidelines assist members in dealing with matters relating to Tenants; Private Residential Tenancies Board Registration and representation;Taxation; Waste Management and any other issues affecting property owners in the private, residential rental sector.

Through its contact base, members can access a network of other providers of rented accommodation.

The IPOA provides quarterly newsletters detailing changes and up to date information on the private property owner‘s rental market.

Meetings are held regularly to keep members up to date on matters affecting the business.

Through being part of a large and united national organisation you can make sure that your concerns are heard and acted upon.

The IPOA has a large database of information and advice for your assistance. The association is on the Department of Environments mailing list and is regularly updated on government planning and thinking in areas affecting our members. The IPOA can voice members’ concerns in advance of legislation or other proposals.

Lobbying is conducted at all levels including government. We monitor legislation which is in the pipeline and which may impact negatively on the residential rental sector. We are part of the U.I.P.I., an international body representing European property owners. We keep a close eye on European Union Directives which will impact on the future rental sector.

Campaigns and issues that the IPOA have pursued

• Tax Reform: Granting of Capital Gains Tax Roll Over Relief and Loss Relief so that the business would have equal treatment with other services industries.

• More realistic implementation of Fire Safety Regulations for houses in multiple occupancy.

• Abolition of the existing Housing (Registration of Rented Houses) Regulations 1996.

• Implementation of an agreed, low cost and beneficial system of self-registration via IP2000

• Reform of the administration and operation of Social Welfare Rent Subsidies to eliminate abuse and waste.

• Reform of the Landlord and Tenant code via simplified and speedier procedures for dealing with anti-social behaviour.

• Use of Small Claims Courts for low cost settlement of disputes
