Estate Agents React to Forthcoming Buildings Directive
99% of estate agents surveyed by IAVI believe that the value of existing residential property will be affected by the new Energy Rating Certificate requirement.
Speaking at The Green House Sessions, the Irish Property Owners Association conference taking place in Croke Park today, IAVI Chief Executive, Alan Cooke presented the results of a survey carried out amongst members.
The survey related to the effect of the Directive and the compulsory energy standards to be implemented as part of it. 81% of IAVI Members believe that the value of existing residential properties with good energy rating levels will rise.
The Green House Sessions focuses on energy efficiency and residential property. According to IPOA Chairman Stephen Faughnan, “This event aims to impart vital information to prepare for necessary changes that need to be made to property and to look at the implications, both financial and logistical, of these changes”.
Duncan Stewart, Chairman of The Green House Sessions explains, “The savings to be made by choosing to install an alternative system to oil, gas or electricity along with the full implications of energy labeling, will be realised over the coming years”.
Attended by over 300 delegates from the property sector, the conference was opened by Noel Dempsey, TD, Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources and features an international panel of speakers which includes author and architect Susan Roaf, UIPI President, Stratos Paradias, architect Mike Haslam (of environmental practice, Solearth) and engineer, Patrick Duffy (co-founder of the National Irish Centre for Energy Rating).
